Archives For Polytheist Leadership Conference

7 hours before I leave for New York….

I’m in Seattle.

I’ve much to tell you, but much I want to linger on, memories which might just be for me.

‘Till I’ve sorted all that out, consider reading this, my July column for The Wild Hunt.  It’s an expanded excerpt of the presentation I’m giving next week in New York at the Polytheist Leadership Conference.

A quote:

As it is impossible to understand the interiority of any subject (which ultimately makes them an unknowable “Other”) without the physical manifestations of their beliefs, the polytheist “challenge” to mainstream Paganism is precisely that gods, if they actually exist, result in actually-existing actions on the part of those who experience and believe in them as actually-existing.
This stance, called “radical” by some, is similar to the same challenge posed by indigenous and anti-colonial resistance movements, queer political actions, and leftist challenges to mainstream political parties. Each pose the same critique to the dominant hegemonic political order, that it is not merely enough to have an opinion that another world is possible, but rather one must physically manifest such beliefs into the world.

—Manifesting An Other World

Also, I’ve decided that, whenever someone condescendingly tries to explain that revolution is impossible and they derive this certainty know from being “in my 20’s during the 1960’s,” we youngfolk should smile kindly and reply,

“Yeah?  So was George Bush.”

Be well, all of you!

Can You Help?

May 5, 2014 — 17 Comments

As you may already know, I’ll be giving a presentation at the Polytheist Leadership Conference in New York in July.  That is, if I get enough money to go.

I loathe asking for money.  Unfortunately, I don’t have another option in this case.

I’m trying to raise a minimum of 750 dollars to pay for travel and lodging.  Anything beyond that will mean I won’t have to couch surf too long afterwards, as I’ll likely have to quit my job and place in Eugene in order to go.  It means that much to me, yeah.

Donations of 100 or more have a perk: I’ll write you something.

And if you can’t donate, can you help me get the word out? Reposts/reblogs are as appreciated as donations.

Details are here

Thank you, kind folks.

Be well!
